FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
March 30, 2006
(Frankfort, Kentucky) – I have just been informed by Harrod Racing owner Jeff Harrod that Newport, Tennessee’s Jimmy Owens is the new pilot of the #20 Harrod Farms entries for the remainder of the 2006 racing season! The decision was made earlier today that the Harrod’s will take one of their cars to Florence Speedway on April 1st to get “dialed in” at the King Family-owned ½ speed plant. After this weekend, plans are up in the air, but I will know more about scheduling sometime after the Owens’ & Harrods’ meet in Florence Saturday.
For this weekend, the car will be a white #20, but will eventually be lettered on a black body and I’ll post photos on the website once everything gets switched over and the cars are lettered.
“This was a tough decision indeed and we wish nothing but the very best for John with whoever he drives for in the future. John deserved to run better than we were, and we want to run better than we have. If John chooses to, we have offered him one of our cars to take to Brownstown to race Saturday, but that decision is totally up to him.” said Jeff Harrod during a phone conversation earlier.
More information will be posted as it is made available.

Jimmy finished 2nd in his heat race. Florence uses passing points to line up for the feature, so I'm not sure where he started at, but he finished 19th after contact with another car sent him into the wall. Maybe Melissa can get on here & let us know how he looked in the Harrod Farms entry Aaron,

jimmy started 11th sat at florence and in 6 laps was passing the 20m car of myers for 5th slight contact was made breaking the Lf suspension sending jimmy into the wall. it was hard to tell if the contact with the other car or the rough track conditions caused the suspension failure. jimmy was fightinh a ill handling car all night as the car was pushing and jimmy and mut just never could get the push out. jimmy looked pretty good in the car though. the potential is there for the harrods and jimmy to win some races this year with just a little bit of luck they could really have a great year together
