FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 26, 2004
(Verona, Kentucky) - Jerry Rice made his return to the Brooks Racing #1B Rockets in familiar fashion by visiting victory lane in his first night back! Rice was at Florence Speedway on July 24th for "Topless Twin 25's". After a great qualifying performance, Jerry started 3rd in his heat. In just a couple of laps, Rice bolted to the lead, capturing the checkers in Heat #1. The heat win forced Jerry to start 6th in the feature. At the end of the 1st 25-lap feature, Rice had finished 3rd. James drew a #6 pill, forcing the 1st-6th finishers to be inverted for the 2nd 25-lapper. Because Rice finished 3rd in 25 #1, he started 3rd in 25 #2. It took Jerry all but about 10 laps to take the lead, and never look back, taking his first win in 2004, and in his first night back in the Brooks Racing #1B Rocket. Next weekend's events are uncertain at this point, but stay tuned for more info.
