(Verona, Kentucky) – Jerry Rice and Owen Stephens have reached an agreement that will put Rice behind the wheel of the green & black #34 ride for the next few weeks. Jerry will be piloting the #34 S&B Cattle, Stephens Trucking, Crumps Lawn & Garden, Doyle Fertilizer, Valvoline, PPM, Oval Craft Monte Carlo powered by an Estes Racing Engine for the first time at Eldora Speedway this Saturday night for the Sunoco ALMS event. “The whole Rice Bros. Racing Team is very excited about having the opportunity to drive for the Stephens’, and we hope to make the best of this opportunity,” said Rice. Jerry also went on to say that the team hopes to go to Scottsburg for the NALMS Opener Sunday, if everything works out Saturday, and Bluegrass next weekend for the BoB Event. Wayne Roberts, former Conley Motorsports Crew Member and the Rice Bros. Racing Team will be turning the wrenches on the car. Jerry informed me at 4:00pm today of the news. He said Mr. Stephens contacted him on Monday to approach him about driving his equipment. Jerry said he and his brothers went to the shop and checked out the equipment before making the decision. Jerry said Mr. Stephens treated him and his brothers with a lot of respect. The car will be #34, with Rice under the number. Hopefully, at some point, we can get that 3 changed to a 1 . I can see why Jerry really liked Owen Stephens. I went to the SAS race at Charlotte last October, and met Owen & his wife. They are two of the nicest people I have ever met. I have been working with Rice Bros. Racing since the beginning of 2004. They are a team. Anytime there is a decision to be made, they all are involved. Just as this was a team decision for them to work with the Stephens'. Good Luck to Jerry, Owen & the entire #34 Stephens Motorsports Team this weekend at Eldora. Keep checking back for more details, as I will be posting any info they give me.

Why cant they go ahead and change the number to 14. They changed the number to 71c when R.J. Conley drove it. So why can't they change the number to 14 for Jerry. Good Luck Jerry. Can't wait to see you supporting the green, black, and white swartz race car.
