Shane ruled at the East Alabama Motor Speedway on September 25th & 26th. After a 5th fastest time in the Late model and a 4th fastest time in Cadet, Shane laid the hammer down in both classes. He finished both of his heat races in first and started both features on the front row. From Green to Checker in Cadet (virtually un-contested). Late Model was a little different ! From outside row one, when the green fell, Shane stunned the crowd by zipping out in front of pole sitter Randall Chupp (who was the favor to lap the entire field, as has nearly happened in the past). Chupp fought back a little but was shortly over taken by an Unsuspected Ricky Williams #17 (clanton team mate). Chupp shortly broke something in the rear end and retired as Williams and Clanton left the field by a half of a straight. Ricky and Shane battled (never touching) for about 15 laps (neck and neck / side by side) swapping the lead about 7 times until Williams started pulling away by about 5-8 lengths. Around laps 60-70, Shane started fealing serious heat from Frank Ingram (F-9). Then like it was planned, Shanes groove and tires started coming in around laps 85-90 as he ran down Williams and took the lead never looking back. Ingram finished 2nd and Williams finished 3rd. Goto EAMSDIRT.com to get the rest of the results. Lot of fast SouthEast names in it. Ohhh, did I mention the Cadet car was brand new and had never been raced before ?? Guess his crew chief did his job too!

Awesome recap DVDDude! I was setting up checking the updates on 4m, hoping to see him bring home the double. After hearing Williams had passed him, I assumed Clanton was on harder tires and would be coming on later in the race. Glad it worked out like it did. I had heard some talk about Chupp maybe being the favorite, but I never believed that. I had total confidence in Shane to win the double this weekend. Good Luck to him at Columbus, Mississippi!

Yeah, that's like the second time I have heard that it was hard to believe that Chupp was a favorite. I guess because I dont get around enough to follow him (Chupp) to see his overall performances, I dont know his typical placings. But, in his defense, when he pulls into East Alabama Motor Speedway, it is highly probable that he will lap the entire field. They (EMAS)hold what they call the National 100 on the first weekend of November every year. I have witnessed Chupp pass an entire 26 car field in less than 14 laps. He runs the very top edge of the track, and thats high since there is no outside wall on about 60% of the 3/8 high bank red clay oval. That particular time when he passed the field in 14 laps, it was full of heavy hitters, Bloomquist, McDowell, Mars, C.Smith, Clanton, Williams, etc.. Now granted: It could have been due to his softer tires at that time, but he continued and lapped the field again, with the exception of second and third (bloomquist second) when a caution came out on about lap 95 and the restart placed Scott right on his tail, and of course Scott got him on the restart. But, had there been no caution, and the malee' of the lapped cars in front of Scott, Chupp would have lapped all of them. Never the less, Chupp is a serious threat at EAMS.
Later Dirt Heads !!
